Net2Net is participating in the Federal Consortium for Virtual Worlds on April 24 - 25 at National Defense University (NDU) in Washington, DC. Net2Net is supporting the NDU Information Resources Management College (IRMC) to create and implement a Second Life Island for experiential learning, interactivity through simulations, and continuity of operations. The island, which is modeled after the National Mall in Washington, DC, consists of three unique and expansive buildings: a crisis management center, a conference center and a welcome center. The buildings feature numerous interactive features such as streaming audio, video and image displays, as well as enough seating for 60 avatars. What began as a bare island has been transformed into a unique area for IRMC to conduct meetings, multimedia presentations and crisis management exercises. Net2Net helps bring Voice over IP (VoIP) to several East African countries. Net2Net is helping the US African Development Foundation (USADF) implement a proof of concept solution for 5 regional African offices in Botswana, Zambia, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda using Cisco IP Telephony to bring reliable and secure communications. USADF helps deliver direct financial support to African enterprises and community-based organizations. This solution will help enhance communications between the African offices and USADF headquarters in Washington, DC. "It's very exciting for us to collaborate with USADF on such an effort that impacts so many countries. This technology provides immediate results with capabilities that were not previously available," said Rohini Solos, President of Net2Net.

Net2Net has been awarded a contract with the National Defense University to create and implement an IRM College Second Life virtual environment for experiential learning, interactivity through simulations, and continuity of operations. IRM College has been the host institution for the Federal Consortium for Second Life. This newly formed group of federal government employees and contractors explore the use of virtual worlds in government, while sharing best practices, creating shared repositories, and exchanging creative ideas. “It’s an honor for us to come along side and support the IRM College in enhancing its virtual world presence,” said Rohini Solos, President of Net2Net.
